Thread-leaved phacelia is a lovely annual wildflower that is easy to grow.  It’s characterized by lovely, coiled clusters of small flowers, which botanists refer to as “scorpioid cymes” because they resemble a scorpion’s tail.  Each cluster is tightly packed with delicate, lavender or pale blue blossoms, giving it a charming, almost whimsical appearance.  As the flowers mature, they unfurl gradually, revealing fresh blooms while others go to seed. This unique arrangement not only looks fascinating but also plays an important role in attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies.

It grows up to is 50 centimeters (20 in) tall and is coated in soft or stiff hairs. The thin delicate leaves give the plant its name, and contribute to its drought-tolerant nature.

One of our only native Phacelia species, it’s a lovely addition to any garden.
