Poverty oatgrass is a small-statured,  hardy perennial bunchgrass, characteristic of West Kootenay dry grasslands  and shrublands.  Excellent for sunny well-drained sites with a preference for sandy, nutrient poor soils.  Excellent as a foundational matrix  plant in pollintator meadows and lawn conversion projects.
